Deze vervolguitkering is aanmerkelijk lager dan de WAO-loondervingsuitkering. Het inkomensverschil dat ontstaat bij de overgang van de WAO-loondervingsuitkering naar de WAO-vervolguitkering is het zogenaamde \'WAO-gat\'. Werknemers kunnen hiervoor een WAO-gatverzekering afsluiten.
