I wrote an e-mail to Van Dale about their ridiculous waffling (politics) suggestion. This is the answer I received:
"De huidige vertaling is inderdaad niet goed bruikbaar. Beter is om (letterlijk vertaald) "waffle iron politics" te gebruiken, of om een omschrijvende vertaling te geven, bijvoorbeeld "politics of equal budget allocation".
In een volgende editie van het woordenboek zal de vertaling worden aangepast."
