Dutch to English translations [PRO] Law/Patents - Insurance | | Dutch term or phrase: eigen behoud | I am currently translating a contract of insurance, and am struggling to find a suitable translation for the above term.
The context is as follows:
"Begripsomschrijvingen. Eigen Behoud. Het in een percentage van de loonsom (inclusief eventueel meeverzekerde werkgeverslasten) uitgedrukte bedrag dat eerst moet zijn overschreden voordat verzekeringnemer recht op uitkering in verband met loonschade heeft."
"Indien in de loop van een kalenderjaar het eigen behoud reeds duidelijk wordt overschreden, kan na overlegging van de in artikel 4.4 genoemde gegevens een voorschotuitkering worden verleend."
Would "retained cover", or "retention" be suitable terms?
All suggestions welcome - KudoZ points will be awarded within 72 hours.
Many thanks,
