I am simply not grasping the verb "aansturen" in context here.

Context is IT, more specifically a digital archiving component of software

Authentieke opslag bestaat, naast de beveiligde opslag en toegang tot documenten, ook uit meervoudige opslag in origineel formaat. Tevens kunnen diverse authentieke opslagmedia *aangestuurd worden* zoals MO-WORM, UDO-WORM of Centera.
