Op 26 oktober 2006 woonden zo’n 250 professionals de Business Process Innovation Conference bij die georganiseerd werd door de X Management School. Dit succes doet verhopen dat er eindelijk **een toenadering komt tussen procesinnovatie en de verbetering van informatiesystemen**. Uit een onderzoek van X en de Y School of Management blijkt immers dat de waardecreatie uit IS/IT-investeringen nog steeds te wensen overlaat, te vaak ad hoc en op korte termijn wordt afgewogen. Hierin is de afgelopen tien jaar nauwelijks wat veranderd.
Then later under a heading ‘Waardecreatie op lange termijn’:
Procesbeheer, Business Intelligence en projectbeheer – niet toevallig de specialisaties van dit onderzoekersteam – zijn cruciaal om **tot een toenadering te komen** tussen IT en procesinnovatie. De klassieke misstap is dat het rendement van IS/IT-investeringen nog te veel op (zeer) korte termijn wordt gezocht. “Wie gaat voor een zuiver financiële return on investment is gedoemd om te mislukken”, waarschuwt prof. dr. Z. De sleutel tot leefbare IS/IT-projecten moet liggen in waardecreatie op langere termijn, vindt hij. De gezochte benefits moeten gericht zijn op procesverandering, op een kwalitatieve verbetering van de organisatie en de IS/IT-infrastructuur. Investeren in agility – het veelzijdig inzetbaar maken van de IS/IT-infrastructuur en het opruimen van obstakels voor verandering – is volgens Z onbetwistbaar een waardevolle investering. |
