For what it's worth... "kentallen" (NOT ken*ge*tallen) is used in mathematics (applicable to CS and engineering) in describing vectors. They're seen as the segments or components of a vector which, when summed, make up the total magnitude and direction of the vector, as defined by its endpoints in the xy plane... or xyz if 3D. These we refer to as "components" (also see: http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kental)
