Dutch term or phrase: sturing(en)
I know what it means but somehow I can't find a good way to say the exact same in English. Some sentences are:

- APPENDIX A betreft de **sturingen** naar de SCADA server
- Het derde en volgende blok bevatten de **sturingen** van VLSM, 1 blok per bereik
- Sommige elementen hebben meerdere bits om hun status weer te geven of om **sturingen** te ontvangen

Any help is greatly appreciated as always. 4 points will awarded.

Both in the Juridisch Lexicon and IATE the only translation that seems to fit is plain "control or controls." Seems simple, but sometimes it just is...

neutral  Jack den Haan: Hmm... controls suggereert bediening Peter, niet besturing (en om dat laatste gaat het vrijwel zeker). Enne.. Jurlex mag dan een prima vraagbaak voor juridische terminologie zijn, voor techniek zijn er betrouwbaarder bronnen ;-)

Explanation:
Als ik het uit een vluchtige verkenning op het Internet goed begrijp, is SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) een real-time regel- en data-acquisitiesysteem dat gebruikt wordt voor het aansturen van allerlei soorten apparatuur, meetopstellingen en voor data-aquisitie. In een vorige (beroeps)leven bij de TU Delft heb ik ooit gewerkt met een soortgelijk systeem (CAMAC). Op basis van die ervaring, denk ik dat het hier gaat om besturingssignalen tussen de server via de zg. backplane naar de aangesloten externe apparatuur, en omgekeerd. Ik zou 'sturingen' dan ook rustig vertalen met 'control signals'.

Tip: google eens 'control signal' in combinatie met scada.

PS: Je zou ook 'driver signal' of 'driving signal' kunnen overwegen. Bij nader inzien is dat wellicht zelfs beter (want specifieker) dan 'control signal'. Google die ook maars eens i.c.m. scada!

agree  Michael Beijer: Jack, I don't really know anything about SCADA and/or VLSM systems, but by Googling, I tend to find 'control signals', (or 'control messages') but I can't find anything mentioning driver/driving signals.

  -> Hi Michael, try googling 'driver signal' in comb. with 'scada' (149 hits) and 'driving signal' in comb. with 'scada' (105 hits).

Notes to answerer
Asker: Ik weet niet at ik daar getypt heb, maar dat moest natuurlijk "opnieuw bedankt" zijn. Ik krijg overigens wel hits wanneer ik "driver signals", PDL, SCADA Google. Veel stukken uit het originele document hebben helemaal geen hits op Google, dus dat zegt me ook vrij weinig.
