Dutch to English translations [PRO]
Law: Contract(s)
Dutch term or phrase: ,al dan niet rechtspersoonlijk, samenwerkingsverband
Indien X voornemens is zijn werkzaamheden te verrichten in een door hem gecontroleerde (besloten) vennootschap of enige andere, al dan niet rechtspersoonlijk, samenwerkingsverband is hij gehouden zulks onmiddellijk schriftelijk aan Y mede te delen.

This is from a "overeenkomst van opdracht", and I am also translating the accompanying "samenwerkingsovereenkomst". X and Y are the Parties.

I am not sure about the "rechtspersoonlijke, samenwerkingsverband" bit. My draft translation is:

If X intends to carry out his work in a (private limited) company controlled by him or in any other company, whether or not a ??? joint venture??, he must immediately inform Y of this in writing.

Any help with this bit would be much appreciated.

yep Jarry is right - was typing further before this went offline - it can cover any form of cooperation - I\'d aim here with no further clues in your text for the widest possible translation because that is the intention of a clause like this - joint venture is abit restrictive unless your text has further info.

I\'d say generally: working relationship/form of cooperation / cooperative association or collaborative relationship are the widest choices here - you need to go wide because (a) you dont know that it specifically a partnership or joint venture which have their own legal defintions and (b) the reason for a clause like this is to make sure notice is given under the widest possible circumstances.

-> thanks - I agree with you, I think Tracey should go for the most generalised/widest choice here than be restrictive, unless the remainder of her text suggests otherwise - thanks!

agree  Tina Vonhof: I would choose 'collaborative relationship'.

-> thanks Tina, I'm alwys a bit nervous about the term collaboration as it has a negative meaning too and so I try steer clear, but in this context not a problem
