Thanks Bryan. I am familiar with "gebruiksrecht" but did not want to make a faux pas if there was a technical term related specifically to its application to copyrights. I probably could have added some more context to the post.

... this has to do with fair use and acceptable use policies. You'll have to look into this further. If you buy something, of course you have the right to use it... but they need to specific for intended uses, which is the point of "gebruiksrecht" - laws/contractual terms used to define how a product is to be used. They use it to prevent people from throwing a laptop against a wall, for example, and then complaining that it broke.
