  -> No, but then neither is the Dutch expression as used in this instance.

agree  Stefan de Boeck: Of course. One is found wanting if one didn't do or neglected to etc. Accountable is for what has in fact been done.

neutral  xxxjarry: To be found wanting is a formal expression, at least according to the Cambridge International Dictionary of English, the Collins Cobuild Dictionary and the Longman Dict. of Contemporary English, all of which deal with idioms, etc.
