allocation is requested on October 4, 2000 at the Legal Aid Council Explanation: I this you'll find this helpful (although quite long) Government-funded legal aid To be eligible for legal aid you must complete a Declaration of Income and Assets (Verklaring omtrent Inkomen en Vermogen - VIV), obtainable from your municipal council office or social services department. The municipal council checks that you have completed the form correctly and compares the amounts declared with the supporting documents supplied. When everything is complete and correct, the council officer stamps the form; only then is the declaration valid. You then take the completed VIV and all supporting documents to your lawyer or other legal adviser, who completes an application form with details of your case and asks you to sign it. He or she then sends the VIV and the supporting documents giving details of your income to the Legal Aid Council (Raad voor Rechtsbijstand). If you are already receiving social-security benefit, you will automatically be entitled to legal aid, and you do not have to complete the VIV. The Legal Aid Council assesses the details of your income and assets and your case in general, and decides whether you are eligible for legal aid. If so, you will be assigned a lawyer; this is known as a toevoeging (allocation). If it emerges that you have given incorrect information, your application will be rejected or your allocation withdrawn. You will then yourself have to pay all the costs already incurred. I recommend you go to http://www.europa.eu.int/scadplus/citizens/en/nl/ for further explanations It's a very good site as above |
