Another word for 'schwung' in Dutch in this context is 'vaart', so you might consider phrases with speed, e.g 'they soon picked up speed' or 'they were quickly picking up speed'.

On the other hand, 'schwung' also seems to express a sense of 'full of energy' here, so you might work with that, too.

As of 15th April he has been motivating the sales team and they immediately set to with a will.
Energy, commitment, motivation.
Another phrase frequently used is "up to speed" or "on the case" which is perhaps a bit too casual.
The tone of the item may give a clue as to how formal it needs to be.
