Dutch to English translations [PRO] Marketing - Marketing / Market Research | | Dutch term or phrase: geografische omschrijving | Paper by a lecturer in marketing advocating radical change in approach to marketing. We've been through various phases: productdenken, klantdenken (klassieke marketing) and now waardedenken. Can't work out what he means by 'geografische omschrijving' here, as none of the usual dictionary options for omschrijving seem to make sense (to me), i.e. description, definition, specification, characterisation.
Om al deze redenen is het tijd voor een marketingrevolutie. Na de these van het productdenken en de antithese van het klantdenken, is de periode aangebroken voor de synthese: het waardedenken .
Waardedenken gaat uit van de bestaansreden van een product. Dit betekent dat het product een unieke oplossing biedt voor een bepaald probleem binnen een zekere geografische omschrijving.
Footnote after omschrijving:
De omvang van de geografische omschrijving hangt af van de bestaande concurrentie, de ambities van het bedrijf en is de resultante van de ambities en de ingezette communicatie en distributiemiddelen. |

| Grading comment Much as I liked the vagueness of Neil's "environment", the author eventually came back with the explanation "What I mean is a territory, a geographical area in which one is active." Simple in the end. Thanks, all. 4 KudoZ points were awarded for this answer |
