This part of a bicycle is a beast by the way in terms of terminology (probably there are also hordes who call this a "derailleur pad" in English...)

A not completely relevant, but related term can be found here http://www.proz.com/kudoz/english_to_dutch/mechanics_mech_en... ...and who knows, maybe that plate was meant to be a pad as well...
