Dutch term or phrase: kooimaaier

"Bij deze kooimaaier zijn alle functies elektrisch aangedreven."

I get only two hits for "cage mower", which would be a direct translation. And the picture does not show cages. What they are referring to are cutter heads at the front of the machine mower, a so-called "green mower" for golf courses.

There are more than 70000 hits on NL Google for "kooimaaier", but the term is not in any of the dictionaries.

Any ideas?

Als uw gazon eruit moet komen te zien als een biljartlaken dan kunt u het beste kiezen voor een kooimaaier. De kooimaaier knipt het gras in plaats van het met messen te snijden.

Een kooimaaier snijdt het gras af omdat het tussen een van de bewegende messen op de kooi en het vaste ondermes komt. Dit is te vergelijken met een snoeischaar.
Een circelmaaier slaat het eraf. Dit is te vergelijken met een zeis al is het blad lang niet zo scherp.
Het maairesultaat met een kooimaaier is beter t.o.v. een circelmaaier maar dan moet er wel zeer regelmatig gemaaid worden. Bij een circelmaaier luistert dit wat minder nauw en kan je een paar dagen later ook nog maaien.

Cylinder lawn mowers

A good cylinder lawn mower is the best type of lawn mower that you can buy to cut your lawn with. End of story really, as rotary can't compete. A good analogy is that a cylinder lawn mower is like having your hair cut at a hairdressers and a rotary mower is like having it clipped using a home barber kit. In case you don't know what a cylinder mower is, its like one of the old style mowers that folks used to have to push around before the invention of electricity and petrol. As the lawn mower goes forward, either pushed by you or under its own propulsion, a horizontally mounted cylinder rotates with a series of cutting blades on its surface trimming the grass to the desired height.

Rotary lawn mowers
A rotary lawn mower cuts the grass using a rotating blade (I kid you not). This hacks the grass down and leaves a torn finish to the grass blade.
Need that striped finish on your lawn, then you don't have to have a cylinder lawn mower to do it, a rotary lawn mower will do a good a job as long as it has a roller on the back. Rotary lawn mowers will give you a tidy finish that looks respectable and have the advantage that it will still easily cut your grass after the winter break when its a little too long. There are also available for less money than cylinder mowers, in both petrol and electric versions.

A cylinder lawn mower or reel mower has anywhere between five to twelve exposed blades at the front of the mower that rotate trapping and slicing the grass blades against a fixed bottom plate like a pair of scissors. The more blades there are the better the cut. The grass box is at the front.
Rotary lawn mowers have one very high speed rotating blade underneath. The blade 'chops' the grass on impact due to its very high speed. Most rotary mowers have the grass box behind with a few having an integral grass box.
