Dutch to English translations [PRO]
Medical - Medical: Health Care / English equivalent for "ziekteoverstijgende" ...
Dutch term or phrase: "ziekteoverstijgende" ...
Van Dale, glossaries, medical dictionaries, and the Web have not presented a clear and acceptable translation of the word "ziekteoverstijgend" for my purposes.

Context example 1:

"Voor ziekteoverstijgende belangenbehartiging zoeken we naast onze aansluiting bij de Chronisch zieken en Gehandicapten Raad (CG Raad) ook aansluiting (als lid) bij de Nederlandse Patiënten en Consumenten Federatie (NPCF)."

Context example 2:

" ... werkt de HVN nog steeds nauw samen met collega-(hiv)organisaties, zorgaanbieders, het Aids Fonds en ziekteoverstijgende belangenorganisaties."

Your feedback will be greatly appreciated.

cross-disease
Explanation:
I have lost count of the many times "cross" as a source term has given me (an EN-NL translator) headaches. The other way around seems easier ;-)

Similarly, perhaps people with CFS should not isolate themselves from people with MS, diabetes, or any other microbially-casued disease, in their fight to bring to this understanding to politicians, and to the many doctors that are still in the scientific dark.

We need to set up larger, "cross-disease" advocacy groups that might better throw their weight around, to impress upon the relevant decision makers and budget directors that A GREAT MANY DISEASES ARE LIKELY DUE TO A HIDDEN UNDERLYING CHRONIC INFECTION, not just CFS/ME.

Why a cross-disease and cross-discipline focus?
Our research funding philosophy is based on the idea that a discovery in one disease or discipline is likely to lead to a discovery in another. Thus, the Hope Center for Neurological Disorders brings together world-leading scientists and clinicians from 12 different Washington University departments whose expertise spans many different disciplines and diseases.

Ron ... I tried to post a message to the answerer (you) using Chrome, which failed to post. Then I used Mozilla Firefox, and it too failed to post. So I gave up doing that. I will just say thanks for finding a good fit for this query for me. And thanks to all the others who generously helped.

non-specific

Explanation:
suggestie

non-specific promotion of interests

wat er wordt bedoeld is dat het om belangenbehartiging gaat die niet (direct) betrokken is op de ziekte zelf

'non-specific' is lekker compact

agree  Dave Greatrix: But perhaps qualified - non-illness specific
55 mins
-> Thank you, Dave. I don't think, 'illness' needs to be added, because 'non-specific' points already out that it is to do with aspects not directly connected with the illness.

neutral  philgoddard: I think this might work if you mentioned what the illness was, eg "non-Aids-specific".
