String-like (...) in the lower left field
Explanation:
According to van Dale, "streng" = 3 [med.] orgaan of deel van een orgaan dat op een bundel draden lijkt, i.e. a "string like" or "thread like" [something],

e.g. " Schorr... has also described a string like shadow proceeding from a localised bulge of the diaphragm to a pneumonic shadow in the lung. "

ref. http://www.bhj.org/books/liver/s3c04.htm

"Small bowel series and barium enema most often reveal a high-riding cecum with or without a string-like lesion of the terminal ileum"

ref. http://www.pubmedcentral.nih.gov/articlerender.fcgi?artid=11...

"If non-small cell lung cancer is present, chest x-rays may show lesions in the center of the lung, cavities formed by squamous cell carcinoma, or thread-like infiltrates running through the lungs"

agree  Tina Vonhof: Depending on what part of the body, a stringlike lesion is a good possibility. 'In het onderveld' could mean 'in the background' (if it's Flemish).

-> Thanks Tina - I agree with you about the "background"

agree  Dennis Seine: I'd go with the stringlike lesion in the lower part of the x-ray
