Description:
Sign suggesting fracture of the base of the skull, fractura basis cranii. The presence of blood accumulating beneath the fascia, producing discoloration at the tip of the mastoid, indicative of fracture of the posterior cranial fossa.

To correct the above entry. This type of bruising is actually called Periorbital ecchmoses (raccoon's eyes) and not Battle's sign

Look for signs of a basilar skull fracture. These include bilateral periorbital ecchymoses (raccoon's eyes) and retroauricular ecchymoses (Battle sign).

disagree  mariette: this is a black eye (blauw oog), the result of bleeding underneath the skin around the eye following a hard blow to the eye or the area near the eye.
