Dutch to English translations [PRO] Medical - Medical (general) | | Dutch term or phrase: halsevidement | A patient has basal cell carcinoma in face area. They underwent "halsevidement voor basocellulair epithelioma".
I know it often means 'removal' (excavation, excision, exenteration, exeresis) but since it is to do with the 'neck' I wonder if there is a translation that is more appropriate.

| | neck dissection | Explanation: = removal of lymph nodes in the neck region
This is usually required for metastatic tumours, and basal cell epithelioma is usually non-metastatic - but if your patient is one of the rare cases where metastases have formed or are suspected with basalioma, then "neck dissection" would be a proper translation for "halsevidement". |
