I'd appreciate some second opinions regarding how to handle "segmentair capterend" in the following, please:

Bij de stagering was de CT-scan van de schedel negatief, CT-scan van de thorax toonde een adenopathie rechts hilair en een CT-scan van het abdomen toonde dat de verhoogde FDG-opname op PET-scan overeenkwam met verspreide *segmentair capterende* wandverdikkingen op de dunne darm en in de regio van de hoek van Treitz.

... extensive areas of parietal thickening with *segmental uptake* ...?

segmental uptake
Explanation:
I think there is nothing wrong with it - you can find quite some examples of it in Google.
BTW, I would not translate 'verspreide' as 'extensive', but as 'diffuse'.

I would suggest something like
'... diffuse areas of parietal thickening that showed segmental uptake'...

Example sentence(s):
  • *Segmental uptake*, especially when associated with bowel wall thickening with or without stranding of adjacent mesenteric fat on CT, may suggest focal inflammation.
  • In general, there are 3 patterns of colonic FDG uptake: diffuse uptake, *segmental uptake*, and nodular focal uptake.

Notes to answerer
Asker: Thanks for the prompt response - and also the comment re verspreide: I was still wavering a little on that, so the extra input is appreciated.

agree  Barend van Zadelhoff: Ron, I think 'diffuse' contradicts 'segmental' and your second reference: I would suggest 'segmental uptake in various (abdominal) locations' or something

  -> Thank you Barend, very good point. 'Scattered areas of ...' might also be an alternative.
