Dutch to English translations [PRO] Medical - Medical (general)
Dutch term or phrase:Segmentair capterend
I'd appreciate some second opinions regarding how to handle "segmentair capterend" in the following, please:
Bij de stagering was de CT-scan van de schedel negatief, CT-scan van de thorax toonde een adenopathie rechts hilair en een CT-scan van het abdomen toonde dat de verhoogde FDG-opname op PET-scan overeenkwam met verspreide *segmentair capterende* wandverdikkingen op de dunne darm en in de regio van de hoek van Treitz.
... extensive areas of parietal thickening with *segmental uptake* ...?
Explanation: I think there is nothing wrong with it - you can find quite some examples of it in Google.
BTW, I would not translate 'verspreide' as 'extensive', but as 'diffuse'.
I would suggest something like
'... diffuse areas of parietal thickening that showed segmental uptake'...

Example sentence(s):
*Segmental uptake*, especially when associated with bowel wall thickening with or without stranding of adjacent mesenteric fat on CT, may suggest focal inflammation.
In general, there are 3 patterns of colonic FDG uptake: diffuse uptake, *segmental uptake*, and nodular focal uptake.
