Dutch term or phrase: infectiewerende sluis
Not much context, I'm afraid. It's an article about a new neonatal unit in a children's hospital. I'm not sure how an "infectiewerende sluis" works. Is it a curtain you pass through to prevent airborne infections? Or will it also involve hand-washing stations etc. I've been searching for 'anti-infection measures' to no avail so far.

Only context: "Infectiewerende sluizen zijn ingenieus weggewerkt."

infection-hindering air lock

Explanation:
They must mean an "luchtsluis" => air lock

Notes to answerer
Asker: Thanks, that sounds right. Wouldn't simply 'air lock' do, as its only purpose (I suppose) is infection control?

agree  SJLD: I suspect so - though I don't think "infection-hindering" sounds very idiomatic - air lock for infection control?

this might give you a better idea of a 'sluis'
SJLD mentioned 'anteroom' and 'infection control measures":

anteroom for infection control measures ?

neonatology department

Don't you think 'anteroom' would be a good choice?
I think you know better than me what sounds good in English.

However, 'infection control area' sounds good to me.

I think 'infectiewerend' is broader than 'disinfection', so I would use 'infection control' or 'infection control measures'.

"I suppose an anteroom that doesn't look like an anteroom"

Yes, that was what I was starting to think as well and, strictly speaking, it is perhaps not what is generally understood by an 'anteroom' (I must say, however, that I am not an anteroom expert. :-) It seems to be just an area where you can and are requested to do a number things before you enter the neonatology department - you don't wait there for example but can leave it to enter the ward when you have done what you were supposed to do.

And, on further thought, I assumed 'infection control area' may well be the best sounding, most accurate and nicely concise solution.

Hi Olly,

I posted my reference precisely because I thought that the word 'airlock' did not fit here and to give you an opportunity to arrive at a valid conclusion.

And your conclusion was 'anteroom' and 'infection control', which both were suggested by SJLD and, as far as the subject of points is concerned, I think he (I think SJLD is a 'he') deserves them in this case but I don't think he will be prepared to post an answer because he already agreed with Alexander's answer, which I find rather mediocre.

The best thing would be that SJLD posted his answer.
Perhaps you should request him to post it.

I appreciate your appreciation.
Have a good day.

Note to reference poster
Asker: Good reference, Barend. Then it's not air lock but a room or area for various infection control measures. Disinfection area or infection control area or some such?

Asker: Anteroom may well be a good choice, I'm just trying to figure what kind of setup they have that is "ingenieus weggewerkt". I suppose an anteroom that doesn't look like an anteroom.

Asker: Barend, if you enter an answer you'll get the points. I think I eventually went with 'infection control anteroom', thanks to your reference.
