Dutch to English translations [PRO]
Tech/Engineering - Mining & Minerals / Gems
Dutch term or phrase: beringiet
Hi all

I am translating a piece about the history of mining in Belgium and came across the above term in the following context:

'De nieuwe technologie om oude terrils in energie om te zetten, klonk veelbelovend en trok internationale belangstelling. Voor de grote massa as – circa 80% restproduct – die hierbij overblijft, leefde er voldoende interesse in de steenbakkerij- en keramieksector. Een gedeelte van de as, het zogenaamde beringiet, kan bovendien in milieuzuiveringsprocessen aangewend worden. Het heeft namelijk de eigenschap dat het zware metalen aan zich bindt.'

It seems to be a sort of argillaceous product - could I simply say 'argillaceous ash' or I have also come across 'tuffaceous shale' but am not sure if this would be more solid? I would appreciate any advice.
