Art/Literary - Music
Dutch term or phrase: tekstbeleving
This is an educational game on the theme of 'lying' aimed at young children. Introductory part is intended for teachers and describes various activities e.g. tell a story, sing a song, read a poem, play a game, etc. These are listed in a table under 'Activitieiten'. The other column is called 'Waar het op gaat'.

Under Liedje, the second column says:
- Muzikale vorming
- Tekstbeleving
- Muziek

Lyrical perception sounds weird and a bit too grand for the context. Lyric interpretation? What does tekstbeleving actually mean?

understanding and interpreting the lyrics
Explanation:
I think Moira was on the right track with her own suggestions. I.m.o. this includes feelings: is it a happy song, sad song, etc.

working on the text/thinking about the text

Explanation:
IMO that's what it means; understanding the words by themselves and in relation to the music, and probably through exercises. If you wanted to use a noun, as it appears in a list of further nouns, you might just use: text interpretation or text games

experience of text

Explanation:
It refers to the (subjective) experience of text.
waarin aandacht is voor tekstbeleving en de reflectie daarop (d.m.v. het vastleggen van de leeservaring en literaire waardering)

Given made the argument that individuals' experience of text must be dependent on many variables such as their cultural background, physiological well-being and knowledge of relevant issues.

text perception/imagination

Explanation:
I agree with Lianne that 'beleving' shoud be understood as a subjective experience. So not so much 'meaning' or 'understanding'. When using the word 'beleving' there is quite an emphasis on how someone feels.

For 'voelen', 'waarnemen', use text perception
For 'inleven', 'verbeelding', use text imagination

to bring in some more emotional elements into the equation

practical perception

Explanation:
I think this is seen from the student's side and it is all about how they perceive/experience the music and the lyrics. I also think you can leave the 'text' bit out since it is already inferred by the header. I might even use Feedback for this depending on the rest of the text you are translating.

disagree  lianne jm van de ven: beleving/experience en perceptie zijn onderscheiden sleutelbegrippen in psychologie en pedagogie//I must be thinking something entirely different. Where does "practical" come from? Or "feedback...?"
