Dutch to English translations [PRO] Other | | Dutch term or phrase: de consument kan met het etiket uit de voeten | Fairly standard phrase yet I can't work out what it actually means here. Usual meaning of "to be able to handle" doesn't seem right. Text is a report on "een korte deskresearch naar Europese studies waarin kennis,
houding en gedrag van consumenten inzake etiketten en etikettering van levensmiddelen is bestudeerd". The section entitled "Gebruik van het etiket" starts:
De vraag in hoeverre de consument met het etiket uit de voeten kan, is niet eenduidig te beantwoorden. Om te beginnen: kijkt de consument wel eens op het etiket?
Then goes on to discuss such aspects as actual numbers of consumers who read the label, the "betrouwbaarheid van het etiket" and the "begrijpelijkheid van het etiket". |
