Context: Het gaat om de functionaliteit van een elektronische interface tussen een boorduitrusting van een trein en de trein zelf. Van verschillende functionaliteiten wordt steeds gezegd: "Komt tussen in de criteria X, Y, Z".
Uit de Grote Van Dale begrijp ik dat 'tussenkomen' in Belgisch-Nederlands een leenvertaling is van het Franse 'intervenir' en zoveel kan betekenen als 'mee betalen aan' of 'bijdragen aan', en ook 'tussenbeide komen' of 'bemiddelend optreden'.
Deze betekenissen lijken inderdaad bedoeld te zijn in bijvoorbeeld:

Besides the meanings given by Van Dale (roughly: to contribute or intercede), I think this discussion (and an off-line contribution I was very happy to receive) shows that there are probably two other basic meanings of 'komt tussen', viz. 'to occur' (in the sense of 'komt voor') and 'to act or operate' (one mening of the French 'intervenir'). This is assuming, of course, that the author of my source document can be taken seriously (which I think he can)! In the context of my source document, I opted for 'relevant', which I would say is more or less in line with 'komt voor' ('to occur') but wider in meaning. Thank you all for your help. 2) wijze van reageren (psychologie)

Dan krijg je "functie A komt tussen in criterium Z"

Asker: Thanks Peter. I have been thinking along these lines myself, and arrived at 'operates in/for/under the criteria' -- where 'operates' is more or less a synonym for 'acts' in this context, I would say. Still not sure about it though!

Asker: Thanks Annabel. Besides 'operates in/for/under the criteria', as mentioned in my response to Peter, I had been considering a safe way out of this dilemma by using the term 'relevant for', which more or less fits in with your suggestion. But I'm sure about this either!
Reference information: Tussenkomen is standaardtaal in België in de betekenissen 'bijdragen, tegemoetkomen in de kosten' en 'het woord nemen; in de rede vallen, onderbreken'. Het is niet duidelijk of we tussenkomen al dan niet tot de standaardtaal in België kunnen rekenen in de betekenis ‘interveniëren, bemiddelen’. Standaardtaal is in die laatste betekenis in elk geval tussenbeide komen.
Toelichting
Tussenkomen is standaardtaal in het hele taalgebied in drie betekenissen:
1. 'in rechte optreden in een geding, dat al aanhangig is bij de rechtbank'

2. 'zich ergens mee bemoeien'
