Dutch to English translations [PRO] Other | | Dutch term or phrase: normatief-juridisch onderzoek | Normative-legal research???

One way to classify research in decision sciences is to think about the research objective: Normative research aims to understand how people should act if they are fully rational actors making choices in their best interests. Such research can cover a wide variety of situations, but the goal is always to understand what people should do. In contrast, descriptive research delves into the psychology of individuals and groups with the goal of understanding how and why real people decide the way they do and how this differs from the normative models. In the Decision Sciences group at Fuqua, much of our research tries to bridge the gap between these two by taking a prescriptive approach, developing methods and techniques that can help managers, organizations, and public policy makers improve their decisions and the processes by which those decisions are made.
