neutral  philgoddard: I get the impression that the translator of your reference didn't know what it meant. I don't think you can leave it untranslated - it just looks odd.

-> That's why I am explaining in my note what it means. I am misunderstanding your comment. I do think the translator in the google book knew what this was about.

Reference: turlelut

Reference information:
I noticed this reference to Boon's characteristic use of the Flemish language: voorts werden uit respect voor Boons aversie van homogeen taalgebruik onder andere de volgende inconsequenties gehandhaafd: ‘belgie, knieen, geeischt, geinterviewd’ tegenover ‘belgië, opgeëischt, knieën, italië, sympathieën’, ‘turlelut’ versus ‘turletut’, ‘litteraire prijs’ tegenover ‘literatuur’, ‘luie hoek’ tegenover ‘luien hoek’. This then led me to Turleltut, which was apparently a 1977 French TV show.
