Dutch to English translations [PRO] Science - Psychology / education
Dutch term or phrase:agogisch
"Agogical" is the easy way out, but I'd like to find a suitable alternative.

vakken: omgangskunde, psychologie, pedagogiek, gezondheidskunde, huishoudkunde, handenarbeid, tekenen, muziek, voordrachtskunst, sport en spel.
"Agogisch" lijkt een typisch Hollandse term te zijn, aangezien zelfs alle gevallen van het Engelse "agogical" ook naar Nederlandse websites leiden.
Agogisch werk is, gebaseerd op wat ik nu weet, werk met geestelijk gestoorden (mentally chalenged).
Explanation: "Social-agogic work" seems a rather common expression which is also used on websites not originally written in Dutch. So you could translate "agogisch werk" simply as "agogic work", I think.

"Tijdens de studie was mijn afstudeerrichting Ortho-Agogisch Werk. Dit vertaalde de Hogeschool van Arnhem en Nijmegen in een diplomasupplement als Ortho-Agogic Work. 'Agogic' lijkt mij dus de meest juiste vertaling van 'agogisch'."
De opties van Lianne lijken mij net iets te specifiek, aangezien het niet duidelijk is of dit agogisch werk met kinderen of met volwassenen is.
"Agogic work" lijkt dus juist hier.
Het is niet occupational. Zie mijn toegevoegde 'note at 10 hrs'
Toevallig wou ik destijds andragogie studeren, dus ik weet er eea van. Agogy is really rooted in the humanistic tradition of the 60-80's and this might be a good summary: http://sdlearner.com/2009/10/31/heutagogy/

Bedankt voor al dit opzoekwerk, textpertise, Lianne en Katja. Intussen ben ik bezig met wat meer context te vragen van de klant (via-via, helaas), dus hopelijk kunnen we dit oplossen. We zitten vast wel ergens in de buurt, neem ik aan.
Gezien de verscheidene definities, zat ik zelf aan "occupational therapy" te denken . . .

I understand the choice of agogy, that would be straight forward. You may just wonder what the purpose is if the term is not understood in another language, so I was trying to make the point that this is a useful alternative.

Reference information: Van Dalen geeft de volgende omschrijving voor agogie: social science relating to the promotion of personal, social and cultural welfare.
Het is inderdaad een typisch Nederlands woord, je zult een omschrijving moeten gebruiken lijkt me.
