Only partially successful
Explanation:
The initial processing was not completely successful because it did not result in a clear and complete picture of the current event. That incomplete picture then stays visible in the background while the processing is completed, creating the impression that there was a second, similar event in the past.

In my own experience I have found that if I keep mulling over this déjà vu for a few days, I can sometimes remember an event in the past that was indeed similar in some way to the new event, so I'm not sure I agree with the explanation presented above.

// Nee, in de tekst staat volgens mij, weet je natuurlijk: The result of the first, incomplete neuronal processing precedes ...

hiccup

Explanation:
The hiccup in processing creates a sort of shadow or echo and so it seems like something that happened long ago.

(and translate "hapering" as delay)

You have to translate this freely, I think.

disagree  Natasha Ziada (X): Way too freely I think - where is the reference to the first/second processing of the experience?

-> The reference to first/second processing would be included in other sentences to capture the entire meaning.
