Tech/Engineering - Ships, Sailing, Maritime / Dredging operations | | Dutch term or phrase: spudwagen | I am drawing a blank. I am sorry that I cannot give more information. The translation is a terminology list. But it deals with dredging operations and shipping terms.
Google gave the following example: " De spudwagen kan in de lengterichting in het schip of ponton bewegen ..."
There is also a related word 'spudwagenbun.' It seems like a typo to me. 'Spudwagenbin' would perhaps make more sense, but because it is just a list of terms, I am not sure if it is correct or not.

The application of a spud carriage is common practise for large CSD’s. This increases the efficiency of the
dredger significantly. The larger the stroke of the carriage the more swings can be made without spud
repositioning and consequently the higher the efficiency of the dredger.

As for the 'bun', googling "spud carriage" + bun gives no hits at all. In combination with 'bin' I found 66 hits, but I'm not sure if they're relevant. |

Een snijkopzuiger of cutterzuiger is een stationair of zelfvarend werktuig, gebruikt in de baggerindustrie die met behulp van zijn roterende snijkop materiaal van op de bodem los maakt (snijden of 'cutting').

1. Werking
Onder de snijkop is een aanzuigopening gemaakt, zuigmond genaamd, die via een zuigbuis in directe verbinding staat met een of meerdere grote centrifugaalpomp(en). Door het vacuüm ter plaatse van de aanzuigopening wordt het losgesneden materiaal opgezogen. De zuigbuis is gemonteerd op een ladder waar ook de snijkop aan vast zit. Als het mengsel door de pomp is gegaan verlaat het de zuiger via een zwanenhals en via drijvende leidingen richting het stort. Het kan ook zijn dat er een bakkelaad installatie opzit, welke gebruikt word om het mengsel in bakken te laden.
Het schip of ponton heeft aan zijn voorzijde de ladder met de snijkop. Aan de achterzijde steken in het algemeen twee zogenaamde SPUDPALEN door het ponton. Een van beide palen zit vast in de zee- of rivierbodem. Meestal steekt één SPUDPAAL direct door het ponton (de zogenaamde HULPSPUD) en de andere spudpaal steekt door de zogenaamde SPUDWAGEN. De spudwagen kan in de lengterichting in het schip of ponton bewegen over een afstand van een meter of 6. De snijkopzuiger wordt met behulp van kabels die verankerd zijn heen en weer bewogen met de spud in de paalwagen (die in de bodem vast zit) als middelpunt van de draaicirkel. Door de spudwagen te bewegen krijgt men de aanzet van de cutterbeweging. Op het eind van de slag, wordt de hulpspud neergelaten en de hoofdspud opgetrokken; de spudwagen wordt dan weer naar de beginsituatie gebracht. Hier laat men de hoofdspud weer vallen, trekt men de hulpspud op en kan men weer een meter of zes cirkelsegmenten baggeren.
2. Toepassing
De snijkopzuiger wordt gebruikt voor de aanleg van havens, het uitdiepen van vaargeulen en het winnen van mineralen. Vaak zijn dit hardere materialen die met een sleephopperzuiger niet kunnen worden losgemaakt en opgezogen.
De meeste snijkopzuigers zijn niet zelfvarend en worden daarom ook gesleept naar een locatie.
