Art/Literary - Ships, Sailing, Maritime | | Dutch term or phrase: buizen | Here is the sentence: 't Kan eens flink buizen, maar daar houdt het ook mee op.
The Dutch (Netherlands) author is writing about the design of old ships, how the stern is higher than the bow. But with this sentence, I am lost.
Here is the paragraph: Die oude zeevaarders wisten heus wel wat ze deden, als ze de achtersteven van hun schepen hoog maakten, terwijl de voorsteven nagenoeg gelijk met het water lag. Van voren dreigt nauwelijks gevaar. [ then above ] Maar het water, dat achterop loopt, ken je voor lelijke dingen zetten.
The sentence/paragraph in question appears in a sailors 'travelog' from the late 1930s.
