'pinched' can mean a lot of things
In an airline context I assume you're referring to 'be pinched for room': 'gebrek hebben aan ruimte', hence: 'wij zaten gekneld/geklemd in onze zetels' - in a broader sense: 'erg klein behuisd zijn'
