Dutch term or phrase: in de lengte

contesto: gastronomia, ricette a base di verdure.

Il termine ricorre spessissimo quando si tratta di tagliare le verdure. Es. De aubergines "in de lengte" doorsnijden. Mi domandavo se in questo caso "in senso longitudinale/longitudinalmente" è ridondante in italiano. Basta dire "tagliarle a metà", o no? Anche se l'espressione italiana "in senso longitudinale" sembra essere molto usata in rete, specie nelle ricette. Grz !
