Direi che 'besteld' significa semplicemente 'ordinato, acquistato', nel senso che i massoni ('onzerzijds') si sono visti costretti ad ordinare per vie traverse ('middellijk') le insegne ('regalia') di cui avevano bisogno per i loro riti in qualche monastero cattolico il quale, dal canto suo ('andererzijds') non si è fatto troppe domande sulla destinazione delle insegne stesse in quanto 'pecunia non olet'.
Un fatto di cui l'autore non va particolarmente fiero, esattamente come non è fiero del fatto che gran parte degli ex-libri a tema massonico oggi sono prodotti al di fuori della massoneria (prima parte del brano). |
