English term or phrase:we might as well forget it
Hello. Here is a dialogue btw managers of a wooden gift manufacturing company discussing whether to raise prices in the the middle of the sales season or not. Even though I know the meaning of the expression "We might as well forget it", in this context I don't catch it. What does it refer to? Thx for your help!
Bob: We're losing money on every order! We're in business to make money, we'd be crazy no to raise prices!
Bill: Edith, you look unhappy, what do you think?
Edith: I'm just worried about trying to raise prices right in the middle of the season
Cal: Wel, if we wait, we might as well forget it
(does it mean that if we wait any longer, raising prices won't be worth it?)
