I could not understand the meaning. Does 'against the sense of' ' mean in the opposite direction and 'in the sense of" mean in the same direction?

Explanation:
If the engine is to rotate clockwise (seen from your point of reference), then you are to rotate the crankshaft counterclockwise.

and "in the sense of" means in the SAME direction as the motor
