"Investment is GDP friendly to the local economies."
Can anybody help me make sense of this? Does it mean it will spare the GDP? I know it needs a hyphen, but it's the way they wrote this. :-)

Explanation:
An investment is said to be gdp friendly, when it is conducive to the growth of the GDP of the country to which investments are directed. By the same token there are investments that are not gdp friendly.

In other words, the investment in question should contribute to the generation of jobs and infrastructures that are in turn valuable in generating more jobs and goods.
