English term or phrase: 3,383 thousand barrels
I've more or less asked this question before, in the Spanish into English KudoZ, I think. But I need to ask again. I have a sentence in an SEC filing by Pemex that reads:

average daily production . . . of 3,383 thousand barrels per day of crude oil.

Is that = 3,383,000?

And can that be rendered in decimals as 3.383 million?

Sure thing. I'm actually interpreting at an oil and gas conference this week, and we've already had our fair share of discussion about barrels of crude oil. I'm sick of it :)

agree  Robin Levey: In en-GB a comma never represents a decimal separator, although it is often (and should usually) be replaced by a hard space to separate 3-digit 'thousand' groups; the exception is in currency amounts, where a comma prevails. But that's mere theory...
