English term or phrase: cycles
Being high quality precision tools, xxxx torque wrenches can be re-calibrated to restore the original precision (+-4% over nominal value, guaranteed for 5.000 cycles if storage instructions are respected and the tool is set at minimum torque after use).

What does "cycles" mean here?

Thank you in advance!

English translation:turns or uses
Explanation:
In a torque-limiting type wrench, the torque is set usually by turning a knob on the end of the wrench. Therefore each time the wrench is used would constitute a cycle.

There are two types of torque wrench, either a torque-limiting system, where the maximum amount of torque applied can be set or a gauge system, which indicates the level of torque being applied.

agree  Gary D: Each time you use a tension/torque wrench, it will "click off" at the pre set setting, when it does this it has completed a cycle. some bolts need to be torqued in 3 stages, Ie; 30Nm, 50Nm, and 80Nm, at each stage the Torque wrench clicks off, cycles.
