tip conditioning Explanation: My interpretation: After the welding electrodes are ground to restore the proper shape (tip dressing), they must be used briefly for 'scrap' welding to condition them for production use. This is necessary to remove rough edges (burr) left by the grinding process, and possibly also so give the tips a smoother surface. This conditioning process is called burn-in. |
