Tech/Engineering - Mechanics / Mech Engineering
English term or phrase: at the opposite end of (meaning of sentence)
assembling of roller shades

(fitting the motor inside the tube where the shade is rolled)

"- Align the black rubber Electronic Drive Unit Drive Coupler with the internal features of the tube.
- Insert the Electronic Drive Unit into the tube to the white bearing sleeve ***at the opposite end of the Electronic Drive Unit***
- Rotate and align Electronic Drive Unit bearing sleeve with the tube so that the two short sections of the collar are on either side of the slot in the tube
- Insert the bearing sleeve into the tube."

...insert the drive unit... to the opposite end of the drive unit??

English translation:maybe maybe
Explanation:
OK, I have NO idea what that text is about, but this is probably a badly constructed sentence which could be rephrased as follows:

Insert the white bearing sleeve, which is located at the opposite end of the Electronic Drive Unit, into the tube.

OR - the original may not be that wrong after all:

Insert the Electronic Drive Unit into the tube to the white bearing sleeve at the opposite end of the Electronic Drive Unit

Could mean

Insert the Electronic Drive Unit (SO FAR )into the tube (UNTIL YOU GET ) to the white bearing sleeve at the opposite end of the Electronic Drive Unit.

So you insert the EDU from one end, and keep inserting it until you get to the white bearing sleeve which is at the opposite end of that EDU. This is more plausible, I think.

agree  Ken Cox: Your latter suggestion sounds right to me; my *best guess* interpretation is that the bearing sleeve is at the opposite end of the end of the EDU that is inserted into the tube (so: insert it as far as the bearing sleeve, align the sleeve, and insert it).

-> Yep, EDUs should never be inserted in any other way! :-)
