While in Britain Shanks has two
operating companies, its UK Safety
Department sits at a Group level and
covers both. This has allowed a
common safety management system to
be put in place for core issues, such as
risk assessment, occupational health,
safety communications, hazardous
substance control etc. Under this
'umbrella' core safety management
system, the operating companies
develop their own local procedures and
systems aimed at the delivery of safety
at an operational level...."
