Does 'screening/run-in failure' mean (as I expect) that 'the patient has been rejected / considered ineligible for the study during screening/run-in period'?

Thanks a lot, every one. I am actually translating the text into Finnish, and when I asked Eng-Fin translators about the equivalent for 'run-in' in this same phrase, some suggested that 'failure' here might mean a computer failure or similar.
