inspection vs. audit inspection

English translation: The terms are slightly different

09:19 Oct 17, 2002
English language (monolingual) [PRO]
/ declaration of conformity
English term or phrase: inspection vs. audit inspection
Is there a difference between these terms or not? They are taken from a declaration of conformity, where they are talking about quality management.

Inspection and approval by the Quality Dept. at the start of each production run.

Audit inspection by Quality Dept. during the production process by random selection of packed products.

Explanation:
Inspection - just indicates that you are checking something out to verifying that it meets a certain set of standards. Inspections can be used for quality assurance, as in inspecting a car to make sure it runs properly, or inspecting an item of clothing to make sure it's manufactured to standard. I know you have probably seen those slips in the pockets of a new pair of pants that say "Inspected by: #244394" or something. It would sort-of be the same thing as looking at something carefully while paying attention to detail.

Audit inspections are still quality assurance minded inspections, however these are more systematic, methodical, and preventative minded for larger processes such as product development etc.

The audit inspection is a detailed inspection of all components of the roofing system and other related or connected building systems. The purpose of the audit inspection is to identify any condition that may be the result of or lead to roofing damage. The data that is collected during the audit inspection becomes the base upon which the preventive maintenance program is based.
