How can you explain the second sentence? The following sentences are taken from the book "Wittgenstein's Mistress" written by David Markson.

"Baseball When the Grass Was Real is actually the name of one of the books, I believe.

In that case one is at least made halfway curious about the meaning of the title, I must admit."

Having now read some reviews of the book (by Donald Honig), I don't think so. It is about baseball in the 1920s to 1940s, and the title just means he thinks baseball really was baseball in those days, and after that it was't so good.

agree  Jim Tucker (X): There was a wave of conversion to artificial turf in U.S. baseball in the 70's and 80's, particularly in one league - but most of those stadiums have converted back to grass, as astroturf changed the game too much, and was the source of injuries.
