English term or phrase: hoping for smth to tear it
They were roaming among the trees always hoping for another victim to tear it apart.

(From the description of Deadwights, or Zombies)

Is it possible to put the phrase this way, or is such a construction too colloquial? What I mean here is "hoping to meet another victim and tear it apart"?

This has been translated from Russian.

English translation:another victim to tear apart
Explanation:
or: another victim that they could tear apart.

Your version is fine if you omit the "it" which isn't needed and makes the sentence confusing (because you can't tell what "it" refers to)
