English term or phrase: the ball is blown dead (American Football)
It's called incidental punishment after the ball is blown dead. Remember, any man you tackle gets an extra elbow, knee or kick in the mouth. Got it?

After the whistle has been blown, the players are supposed to stop tackling each other. Which means, if you do tackle, you are causing the other player more damage than he deserves.
