I am translating a menu system of a mobile phone.
Is "cell broadcasting" the same notion as "group sms"?

SMS group is the option that allows you to send the same SMS message to all member of a group.

Cell broadcast is a completely different thing. This is the service that allows you to receive SMS messages with the latest news, weather forecasts, sport events, etc., for your geographic area. Usually, t6his function is disabled by default, and the companies charge an extra fee for this service.
