The Afrikaans term for the person who collects and keeps the coats, hats and umbrellas for the patrons while they are attending a show or are inside a casino. Such a person is usually in the foyer at the entrance door.

check-out / checker-out (n. american)
ontvangs / ontvangsklerk

Explanation:
Afrikaans actually refers to ontvangs, but if you want to refer to a person, I think ontvangsklerk will do. Porter is translated with portier, but that basically refers to a person at a hotel who helps with the luggage.

Asker: Dankie vir jou voorstelle, Annabel, maar die betrokke persoon is nie 'n portier of 'n ontvangsdame soos by 'n hotel nie. Nog 'n voorstel?

ontvangsportier

Explanation:

Asker: Jammer Anita, dié kommentaar was natuurlik vir jou bedoel!
