English to Afrikaans translations [PRO] Medical - Medical (general) | | English term or phrase: high | | The English slang word "high" has entered mainstream use (as has "down" and "blue"), but in Afrikaans we don't call depressed people "hoog" when they are high. The best I can come up with is "vrolik". The general dictionary says "bedwelmd" but that back-translates to "drugged", which is not appropriate to a text describing a depressed person. Other terms that may qualify include "vergenoegd" and "uitgelate". What would you suggest? |
